An IME is an independent medical examination that is used to resolve questions about medical conditions for the purposes of processing claims.
We provide services for all claim types including, but not limited to:
- Long Term Disability (LTD)

- FMLA 2nd & 3rd Opinions
- 1 & 2 Day FCEs
- Fitness for Duty (FFD) assess
The process involves the selection of a qualified provider who will review claim records, perform a thorough examination, and prepare a report to address referred questions. The providers performing the examinations are professional and completely independent. They are not employed by NMR, thus ensuring their opinions are unbiased and centered on evidence-based medicine principles. Reports composed by these professionals are then reviewed by our clinical Quality Assurance team before finalizing and are ultimately utilized to assist in making claim determinations.
